Jayalalithaa under sedation during Rao’s visit
Former Governor Ch. Vidyasagar Rao had informed the then President Pranab Mukherjee that Chief Minister Jayalalithaa remained sedated when he visited her at the Apollo Hospitals on October 1, 2016.
In an October 6, 2016 letter, Mr. Rao apprised the President about Jayalalithaa’s health since her September 22, 2016 hospitalisation.
The letter forms part of the reply by Raj Bhavan to seven questions posed by the Commission of Inquiry looking into Jayalalithaa’s death.
The Commission had written to Additional Chief Secretary to the Governor R. Rajagopal on September 18 and the Chief Secretary.
The Justice (Retd.) A. Arumughaswamy Commission wanted information, if any, received by the Raj Bhavan from either Apollo Hospitals or the All India Institute of Medical Sciences on Jayalalithaa’s health.
The Commission also asked if the then Governor was apprised of such information and wanted to know how the Governor reacted to such information.
The Commission also wanted to know whether the Governor sent reports to Rashtrapati Bhavan after visiting Jayalalithaa in hospital on October 1 and 22, 2016.
