Big twist to Pollachi sexual assault case: DMK chief MK Stalin’s son-in-law booked for spreading rumours
In a political twist to the Pollachi sexual assault case that has rocked Tamil Nadu, the Chennai Police on Thursday registered an FIR against the son-in-law of DMK chief MK Stalin. Sabareesan was booked by the police after Tamil Nadu Deputy Speaker Pollachi V Jayaraman lodged a police complaint stating that rumours were being spread against him.
Jayaraman had on Tuesday asked Chief Electoral Officer of the state to probe and act against those who were spreading rumours against him and his family in the Pollachi sexual abuse case.
ayaraman had said at a press conference that the DMK was trying to defame him and the ruling AIADMK over the issue.
The Pollachi sexual assault-cum-blackmail case has become a major issue in Tamil Nadu. A CBI probe has already been ordered into the case.
The sexual assault case emerged last month when a complaint was registered at the Pollachi East Police Station in the state's Coimbatore district.
As per police, the gang involved in the case targeted scores of women, including college teachers, students and working professionals. They were sexually assaulted, harassed and blackmailed by the gang.
As per police, four men were involved in the crime - Thirunavakkarasu, Sathish, Sabariraj and Vasanthkumar. All four have been arrested by the police.
